"Flatwork" is concrete work consisting of sidewalks, driveways, patios, and floors. But the term refers to more than just slabs of conrtete. Floors in high-rise buildings, for example, are considered flatwork; highways, however, are not.

Whether it takes the form of a simple patio or a floor in a 50-story building, flatwork is constructed in a variety of ways resulting in an array of solutions.

Colors and textures add a whole new dimension to concrete. Concrete finishers add color with mineral pigments or special stains. Textures and patterns are created by stamping the fresh concrete with tools, mats or special finishing techniques such as acid etching, sand blasting, or exposed aggregate.
